Abstract

This study examines the relationship between political stability, insecurity, and household economic well-being, with particular emphasis on their effects on household income, consumption, savings, and investments in education and health. The study employed a mixed-method approach, and primary data were collected through a Google Forms-based questionnaire from 45 respondents. The questionnaire focused on household income stability, expenditure patterns, debt management, and welfare-related investments under different political conditions. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to interpret the survey responses. The findings indicate that insecurity and political instability are associated with irregular household income, increased expenditure on food and energy, and reduced savings. Respondents also reported reducing expenditure on education and health care during periods of political and security instability. In contrast, households experiencing greater political stability demonstrated stronger financial resilience, more consistent saving practices, and greater willingness to invest in education and health. The findings further indicate that policy uncertainty discourages long-term household financial planning, while political stability is associated with greater economic confidence and predictability. The study concludes that political and security instability can adversely affect household economic well-being by weakening income stability, reducing savings, increasing living costs, and limiting welfare-related investments, thereby increasing households’ vulnerability to poverty and inequality. Strengthening governance, reducing insecurity, and ensuring predictable economic and welfare policies are therefore important for improving household economic security and resilience.
